CBT Hypnopsy

Our Vision and Mission

CBTHypnoPsy envisions a future where the integration of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Clinical Hypnotherapy—what we define as Cognitive Behavioral Hypno-Psychotherapy—is recognized as a distinct and certifiable area of clinical expertise.

We are committed to cultivating a profession of highly trained, scientifically informed cbt hypno-psychotherapists who are equipped to meet the complex and evolving needs of clients across diverse clinical settings.

Our Goals

  • To differentiate CBT Hypno-Psychotherapy from symptom-focused or standalone hypnotherapy, by emphasizing its integration within full-spectrum psychotherapeutic work.
  • To promote the wider clinical and academic acceptance of hypnosis as a scientifically validated psychotherapeutic tool.
  • To advance evidence-based practice in the integrated field of cognitive-behavioral hypno-psychotherapy through education, clinical application, and research.
  • To set and maintain high standards of clinical excellence through accredited training, professional development, and ongoing supervision.
  • To safeguard public interest via transparent accreditation systems, ethical governance, and robust complaints procedures
  • To foster collaboration with national and international organizations committed to shared ethical standards and integrative approaches.
  • To build a vibrant professional community for clinicians and researchers who apply or wish to explore the clinical use of hypnosis within the CBT framework.

Regulatory Landscape

At present, there is no uniform legislation within the European Union regulating the use of clinical hypnosis in the field of mental health. This regulatory gap is a significant concern for CBTHypnoPsy.

To address this, we have developed a set of training standards and an accreditation framework for our members, which are outlined in detail on this website. These standards are continually being reviewed and updated to reflect best practices.

Several European countries have begun issuing accreditation guidelines for hypnotherapists. Initiatives such as the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) and the National Hypnotherapy Council represent important steps toward greater professional accountability and public safety. CBTHypnoPsy fully supports these efforts and seeks to contribute through collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the promotion of rigorous, evidence-based standards in cognitive behavioral hypno-psychotherapy..

Our Clinical Philosophy

Cognitive Behavioral Hypno-Psychotherapy blends the structured, evidence-based approach of CBT with the imaginative and experiential depth of clinical hypnosis. Our model integrates:

  • CBT’s case formulation framework
  • Principles from Attachment Theory
  • Core techniques from Hypnoanalysis, including:
    • Ego State Therapy
    • Age Regression Therapy
    • Guided Affective Imagery
    • Rapid Reintegration Procedure Therapy
    • Affect and Somatic Bridge methods

The therapeutic process draws on hypnosis, imagery, and meditative techniques to enhance self-awareness, emotional regulation, and cognitive restructuring.
